Getting here
No cars needed at the houses. You finish the trip by boat.
Getting to Sierpe, Costa Rica
Sierpe is a small river town in southern Puntarenas, at the northern edge of the Osa Peninsula. Everything starts there: you meet the boat in Sierpe and ride upriver to the houses.
By car
From San José (SJO) the drive takes roughly five hours, most of it on the coastal highway south through Jacó, Dominical and Uvita, then inland to Palmar and Sierpe. Leave your car in secure parking in Sierpe for the length of your stay.
By air
Domestic flights from San José land at Palmar Sur, about 20 minutes by taxi from Sierpe. It is the fastest way in if you would rather skip the drive.
The boat
Your round-trip private boat transfer between Sierpe and the houses is included. The captain is our caretaker and a longtime local resident, and is available for fishing, mangrove tours and trips out to the Osa during your stay.
Before you arrive
- Send us your arrival time so we can schedule the boat
- Bring groceries from Sierpe or Palmar for your first days
- Pack binoculars, bug spray, sturdy shoes and a rain layer
- Expect hills and stairs: this is Costa Rican jungle terrain
